Project Overview

We implemented the construction of an elevated water tank to address the critical issue of water scarcity in Gargaara Village, significantly improving the community’s water storage capacity and reliability. Alongside this, we implemented a comprehensive water distribution system to efficiently deliver water throughout the village, enhancing access for both households and livestock.

To promote sustainable energy use and ensure reliable water pumping, we installed a solar power system and replaced the existing water pump for the village’s shallow well, thereby increasing pumping efficiency and reducing operational costs.

Furthermore, we constructed water kiosks at strategic locations to facilitate convenient and hygienic water access for residents. To support the community’s pastoral livelihood, we also implemented the construction of animal troughs, providing safe and dedicated watering points for livestock.

Through these integrated interventions, we successfully enhanced water availability and strengthened the resilience of Gargaara Village by combining sustainable infrastructure with renewable energy solutions, ultimately improving health outcomes, economic opportunities, and overall quality of life.

Outcome & Delivery

The elevated water tank was completed and fully tested for structural soundness, water retention, and gravity-fed distribution efficiency. Its operationalization has significantly improved the reliability of water supply in the Gargaara area, reducing the community’s dependency on distant water sources.

This achievement, combined with the successful implementation of a comprehensive water distribution system, solar-powered pumping, water kiosks, and animal troughs, has markedly enhanced water accessibility and sustainability for both residents and livestock.

The project showcased our strength in vertical civil works and reinforced our expanding portfolio in delivering water supply infrastructure to underserved communities across Somaliland. Through these integrated interventions, we have contributed to improved health outcomes, economic opportunities, and overall resilience for Gargaara Village.
